Friends of Legends –
Let me be the first to say THANK YOU for your support towards making life changing experiences possible for everyone that is impacted by a Legends experience.  Our mission is “to develop and enrich lives of youth through performing arts.”  We continue to focus on our mission every day and your continued support allows us to maintain the standard of excellence we provide.
I can remember the early days building the first Legends ensemble in 2001.  As we approach 2015, this will mark the 15th Indoor Season, 10th Drum Corps Season, and 5th Winter Percussion Season.  These are wonderful milestones for these programs and we are excited to celebrate these with you.  I am pleased to share that we are expecting to field our largest DCI unit with over 100 members this season.  Our winter percussion program (2013 MCGC Independent A Champions and 2014 WGI Independent Open Finalist) also is in a record number season.
On GivingTuesday 2014, we launched our “10th Season Anniversary Campaign.”  As part of this campaign, there are a number of projects we aim to accomplish, including:

  • Purchase of additional instruments and uniforms for the Corps to support the continual growing membership.
  • Replace the battery percussion, which is used by the Corps and Winter Percussion.
  • Various improvements to our Food and Equipment trailer to accommodate efficiency, safety, and the ability to service the growth of the Corps.
  • Develop our “Education Series” – various 1-3 day live learning opportunities for students to engage in clinics and leadership development.

“Legends provides the experience of a lifetime and friendships that will never end.  These 4 years have not only refined my life skills, but have taught me about leadership and how to lead and be led.” – Legends Age-Out
When my son came back from his first Legends experience, he was a different person – so much more confident and mature.” - Parent
None of this work is easy, or inexpensive.  Through your generous support, Legends is able to offer these 3 different programs, sponsor 3 DCI events in Michigan during the summer, serve 200+ members, travel 10,000+ miles, and perform in front of thousands of spectators.  You can help us purchase new instruments and equipment, which are used in our off-season PARTNERS IN EDUCATION initiative to support local public school music programs.  A gift from you could assist us in meeting our project goals and/or provide a scholarship to members with financial need.
I believe in what Legends offers and I know you do, as well.  I hope you will consider making a tax-deductible contribution to help continue the success of this organization.  Together we can help make a difference and support the quality and excellence we provide through our programs at Legends.
THANK YOU for making an impact today.

The 2015 Legends Drum & Bugle Corps will be celebrating its 10th Season.  “This will be a milestone season for Legends, as we get ready to begin Season 10 this summer,” says Ibe Sodawalla, Executive Director/CEO & Founder.  “We are expecting record attendance, dedicated staff, passionate volunteers, and one of the strongest representation of vets eager to spend another summer with the corps.  I am extremely thankful to everyone that has worked over the years to make a DCI experience possible through Legends.”
There will be a number of returning design, instructional, and administrative staff members for 2015.  Additionally, there are a few new individuals that will be joining the various departments, as well as some new positions being filled.
“I look forward to having Ron Hardin return as our Program Coordinator,” says Ibe.  “He has brought tremendous value to our product development when he began working with Legends last season.” Legends is pleased to have the all of the department heads of our education team returning; including Landon Ewers (percussion), Mike Unsworth (brass), Lindsey Schueller (visual), and Carolyn Tobin (color guard).  “These fine educators uphold the excellence and professionalism we hold dear at Legends and guide their respective departments towards a path of success.  They are all an incredible asset to Legends.”
